O O O O O!!!!!

I stopped by the small market yesterday and as I checked out, the man behind the counter asked me how I was. "Nervous" I said. "I hope tomorrow I have a new President Obama." There were about 8 people in line behind me who cheered when the woman next to me said, "the whole world does!!!" The magnitude of this election hit me. Yes indeed, the whole world is watching.

From my little apartment in Paris, I sat with baited breath devouring both television and the internet. Internet then television. As night descended and state by state went blue, I really began to believe that yes, it actually....can happen.

And then it did.

O.B.A.M.A!
I have a huge smile on my face and joy in my heart.
There's a long road of troubles to overcome but after 8 years, I finally have hope for my country again.

America, I really do heart you.

I am quite amazed at the outpouring of joy here in Australia. we pretend to be disinterested in you guys (while trying to be just like you) but I guess we all see the potential for a positive flow on effect for everybody.

lol- I've been congratulating everybody American I know as though they've personally won. And I guess in a way they have.

So yeah, congratulations KFD!

Yea, fer sher! I can't believe, though, that 46% of voters were even considering voting for the other guy.

They had spontaneous fireworks in my neighborhood when the poll closed promptly at 8:00 p.m. It's like you could hear people breathing a huge sigh of relief. They cheered for a long time, somebody yelled his name. Come to think of it, it was a pretty emotional moment. But I guess you know what I mean.

Expat in San Francisco.

Obama, yes. But passing Prop 8 in California? Really? I feel like we always go one step forward, one step back.
