While it is always helpful for me to watch my own performance, one thing struck me like a cement block to the head. I am still horrified/terrorized by how I sound speaking French. In my mind, I sound romantic and flowery...oh so effortless, so breezy, so light....like the sigh of a flower petal in June.
In reality, I sound like a nazi gagging on cheeseburgers.
But that's ok. Je persévère.
The BATTLE continues June 24th.

I just watched the performance, it is really good.
I've never heard a nazi gagging on a cheeseburger, but I suspect it sounds a little different than that. I wonder how long you'll need to live there to feel that the French comes naturally?
I'm guessing about 8 or 16 years.
Well, better than 24 I suppose.
Somebody who lived there for 25 years recently told me that she'd still have days toward the end of her time there where nothing came together for her.
